The Greater Reading area has lost one of its finest and funniest performers. Beverly Ann (Frees) Storr, aka “Miss Holly,” 77, of West Wyomissing, passed away November 1 in ManorCare Health Services, Sinking Spring, following a brief illness.
Born in Reading on October 3, 1940 to Melvin and Ethel Frees, Beverly is survived by her only son Greg of Louisiana. She was a strong-willed and determined person, who achieved all of her ambitions in life.
Beverly strived to be The Best Dancer in the Reading area, and achieved it with her clothes on. In her later years, she had people laughing beyond control when she famously entertained as “Girdie Gorilla” at numerous birthdays and special occasions. Her pride and joy was to make people laugh in whatever venue she was performing.
But her greatest love was the unconditional love she both gave and received from her many dogs, especially Hilda and Hazel, who were featured in the Reading Eagle on various occasions.
Special thanks go to her dear friends Nancy, Judy and Dee for their help and friendship in her later years. Most importantly, Beverly confessed to Jesus, her personal savior, three weeks before her passing, so we all have peace knowing her eternal future.
Friends and relatives are welcome to a farewell Celebration of Beverly’s life on Saturday, November 18 at Forest Hills Memorial Park beginning at 11AM.
