Donald K. Hoover, 88, of West Lawn, died September 21 in the Reading Hospital. Born June 26, 1929 in Reading, Donald was married to the late Dolores (Hunsicker) Hoover, and was a son of the late Alvin and Miriam (Schenck) Hoover. He is survived by a son Thomas, husband of Linda of West Lawn, daughters Melinda Blessing, Middletown, PA, and Amy Hoover, Sinking Spring.
Also surviving are his three grandchildren, Drew and Tory Blessing, and Shawn Hoover, as well as his brothers Herbert, Clark and James Hoover.
Donald was a skilled truck driver for many years, retiring from The Bachman Company. When not driving truck, he enjoyed a wide range of activities, from trap shooting, hunting and fishing, to gardening and operating remote control airplanes. He also loved micro-midget racing at tracks throughout the Northeast.
A Celebration of Donald’s life will be held this Saturday, October 7 at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 28 Longs Church Road, Womelsdorf, beginning at 10am. Burial will be private.
