Michael Nicholas “Mikey” Eisenhardt, 53, of Bethel, PA., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, Friday, May 5, 2017, in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center following a long struggle with cancer.
Born October 15, 1963 in Reading, Michael, along with his twin sister Cathleen, were the youngest of six children born to the late John and Fern (Moehler) Eisenhardt. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeramie M. Eisenhardt, of Hamburg.
Perhaps best known for always wearing a do-rag over his blazing red hair, Michael was a kind, hard-working man who loved his family, friends and animals, especially his new puppy, Eminee.
Michael attended Tulpehocken High School in Bernville, and was employed at Timet in Morgantown prior to his cancer diagnosis. He was a member of the Kenhorst Blvd. Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Reading. Michael lived the last few years of his life with his best friend, Donna Donato, who assisted in his care.
Michael loved to travel and was lucky enough to be able to visit a number of islands in the Caribbean, as well as Mexico, Canada, England, France, Germany and the former Soviet Union. He was an avid music fan and always looked forward to attending an annual country music festival in Ohio. Michael loved watching the Eagles play football almost as much as he enjoyed watching Dale Earnhardt (both “Senior” and later, “Junior”) compete in NASCAR races.
In addition to his twin sister, Cathleen, wife of Mark Rioux of Bernville, Michael is survived by a brother, John, husband of Emma Eisenhardt, of Leesport, as well as three sisters, Eva Marie, widow of Richard M. Schloesser, Mt. Penn, Cynthia Eisenhardt of Reading, and Heidi, wife of Dan Berg, Mohnton.
A memorial service is planned for early June at the Reading Hampton Heights Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Temple, Pa.
