E. Josephine Hartman (lovingly known as Josie), 93, of Hamburg, died January 25, 2019, at Laurel Center, Hamburg.
She was the wife of the late Bernard K. Hartman. Born in Shoemakersville,
Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late William B. and Reba (Leipensberger) Sieger; and was
preceded in death by her brother, Elmer; and by her sisters: Irene, Grace, Anna, Katherine and Lucille.
Josie was employed as a hostess and bartender with Arner’s Restaurant for 56 years, as well as a seamstress at Miller’s Knitting Mill in Leesport.
Josie had a quick wit, a sharp mind and a great love for her many feline companions over the years, among them Snowball, Funny Face, Mr. D and Missy. She also had a
passion for horses and in her earlier years enjoyed
grooming and riding her horse, Dan.
She is survived by her five sons: David Shrom and his late wife, Shirley, Roger Shrom and his late wife, Carol, Randy Hartman and his wife, Pat, Larry Hartman and his wife, Betsey, and Kevin Hartman and his wife, Carol; along with 13 grandchildren; and multiple great-grandchildren.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Cremation Society of Berks County Inc. is in charge of
